Play Sonic Advance 2.
Beat it and look at the huge ending pose your character is in.
Turn it invisible by disabling the Sprite Layer.

There's a difference, Draco. Sprites are objects that you can interact with or control in the actual game. Do you interact with or control Character Selection pictures in the actual game? NO.

Wrong.
You do not judge whether something is a sprite or not depending on what you WOULD use it for. You judge it by what you CAN.
Sprites are any and all frames of an animation used in the objects of a computer game* that actually do something, for example, jump in the air, get bigger, and turn into a massive ending pose like in half the video games. Background objects aren't considered sprites.
*EDIT: In this case, video games fall under this category, except that consoles aren't usually considered computers.
