NotePad and WordPad are still the best.

only for people who know perfect html!

If you don't know HTML, don't make web pages. Good day.

I know HTML, but I use Dreamweaver MX because it's easier and I'm lazy.

I use Angelfire for animated GIFs and other image files, while I use Geocities for TXT files and PNGs.

QUOTE
Tucows.com http://www.tucows.com/
Offers unlimited file space and bandwidth for game developers of quality games (at their discretion). Tucows will also professionally review games for free. Download statistics are available quarterly. Additional services such as daily download statistics are available for an additional charge. Tucows will not host web sites but will provide multiple download locations for any game accepted for the site.

So if you make a good enough fangame (or two), then you can get hosted there?

EDIT: And I finally reread this ancient post and see that I totally missed a very important part of the description.

I use Powow.com. It has 50 MBs of Webspace, unlimited bandwidth, support for many file types, a EZ-Page builder if you don't know HTML, and a quick file manager. The only problem is if you link to a download on your site you need to Right Click - Save Target As. In other words no direct linking. sad.gif

Ripway-
50 Megs
PHP support (Don't know 'bout this, on the site it says that they're adding it.)
Any file type
Hotlinking
Bloging (You can download blogger format files from their site and upload and rename them on ripway.)

Drunkduck-
Comic hosting.
Free automaticaly created pages with "First, Next, Recent, etc." buttons for navigation.
Not much of a real site will you have if you use it, no customizable layout for site unless you pay an extra fee.

NEVER use Ripway. It's bandwidth is way too low to be of any use. Not to mention that you have to wait a whole day for Ripway to recover when you run out of bandwidth.

...that made me laugh SO hard.

Transparency is not a server thing, it's a thing in the graphic itself. To have trancparency, you need a gif editor, then you set the transparency, then save it as a gif.
