Nintendo to appear at TGS!

July 27, 2005 - Nintendo and Microsoft will be giving keynote presentations at the Tokyo Game Show in September, according to a recent update at Japanese site Famitsu.com. Microsoft be sending Entertainment Division Senior Vice President Robby Bach over to Tokyo for a speech to be given from 10:00 to 10:50 on 9/16, the business-only day of the public show. Bach's presentation will be followed by a speech from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, scheduled for 11:00 to 11:50.


With the Xbox 360 set for Japanese release later this year, Bach's appearance comes as no surprise. Iwata's presence, on the other hand, is somewhat surprising, considering Nintendo does not plan on showcasing product at the Tokyo Game Show. Iwata has given TGS keynote speeches in the past, including a 2003 speech in which he discussed industry transitions since the time of the Famicom, a theme perfectly timed for the anniversary of the NES's 1983 Japanese release.
The themes of this year's speeches from the two executives has yet to be announced, but most are expecting Bach to discuss X360. And most are hoping -- praying -- that Iwata will reveal something more solid about Revolution.
