An RPG set in modern times instead of some fantasy world isn't innovative? Picky picky!

Admittedly the mechanics of the game aren't too innovative, but personally I think everything else makes up for it. But to each their own I suppose.

Cool things that may not be innovative but definitely are quirky enough to make Earthbound worthwhile apart from other RPGs:

-Calling your Dad from either your house phone or a payphone to save.

-ATM machines

-Heat stroke

-The awesome running teleport PSI thing

-Random camera man

-Poo's Mimic/Mirror technique

-The Music!!

-The scratch and sniff cards that came with the Player's Guide that came with most new copies of the game

-The huge box that the game came in

-Jeff building things from junk

-Apple Kid and Orange Kid

I can't think of any more right now, but I'm sure people have their own favorite quirks.

I would hope so, but I doubt it, seeing as nothing new about it has been seen for the last 10 years or so.

I don't like many turn-based-RPGs, but I still want to play EB.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. You'd think they'd release it; with the success of SSBM I'm sure more people would recognize Ness now. There's nothing in the game that would alienate American audiences either, indeed, a lot of the game takes place in cities very much like America, so it's even weirder that they haven't released it here. BLAST YOU NOA!

Yeah, SSBM brought Fire Emblem a bigger audience, why not EB.
(LOL, maybe we'll see a new game for the Ice Climbers or Mr.Game & Watch)

I always thought an online Mother game would be great (for Revolution perhaps?)

The success of Advance Wars probably convinced Nintendo to bring the game over, but I'm sure that more than a few people became curious after playing SSBM(like me).

Mother 3 was originally slated for a N64DD launch, and there was even a demo for it at Spaceworld, but like many other N64DD games it was cancelled.

Everybody should do a favor to themselves and buy Earthbound. Not a rom you dirty pirates, BUY IT. Try to find the foot long box it was first released in.

XDXDXDXDXD i still got my box! XD

and yes, for heavens sake buy the game =p
