This is just a poll to see the affects of the "power" hype on you all. Nintendo has said Revolution will be 2-3 times more powerful than the GCN, and people SCOFFED at those numbers as if this was somehow not good enough. I have to see how many of you understand what sort of bottlenecks it will take to not be able to run that game in 640x480.

So to rectify things here; the question is: Do you really think the Nintendo Revolution (which is being touted as the weakest of the three next generation consoles) really has such a large hurdle to leap that it could not run RE5 in 640x480 without serious reductions in polygon count/individual texture resolution?

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to run it. The question, though, is whether or not the controller would be suited for the game.

I don't know the specs of the Revolution.
I don't know much anything about RE5.
Ergo I have no ****ing idea soveryhappy.gif

edit: one of the 'no' votes is just me because I want to be able to see the results without having to click the Show Results button every time the page loads, and YOU didn't provide a neutral option :]

Well I think people make the mistake of believing the Revolution controller is going to be totally unconventional, but the point to make there is simple... if you read all the interviews concerning the controller in quick succession and take notes; you come out with the following bullet points

- Revolution controller has to be fun (Miyamoto)
- Revolution controller will attract all sorts of people and not just gamers (Iwata)
- Revolution controller will be unique, and also, not intimidating to non-gamers (Iwata)
- Revolution controller will be easy to steal (Miyamoto)
- Revolution itself has to appeal to as broad an audience as possible, games should be fun (all Nintendo)
- Revolution controller will suit NES->GCN games (Reggie)
- Revolution will not use a touch pad (Iwata)

So, the Revolution will not be controlled by a watered down DS, there is no touch screen. The controller has to attract people into playing it, without it looking like something nerdy that no one would want to do (Nintendo On is out of the question, as are gyroscopic controls). Only a simple, button-laden controller could play all those classics... and if it will be easy to steal, it must be existing technology just used in a different way.

You're looking at something between the ease of use of the SNES, the precision of the GCN, the "cool factor" of a mainstream product, and the simplicity of a baby's toy. I believe the controller will be able to play just as many games as any Nintendo controller ever could

Also, there is no neutral opinion in the poll because I want to see people's best guess. The hardware shouldn't have any problems running the game, as a more powerul version of the GCN (hey they share an API!), how could it be that the Revolution couldn't run RE5 when it won't be running it in 720 or 1080p. There would be no point in a hardware upgrade.

Even if the revolution can't handle it, the graphics/effects can be refined so that it does, plus even if there isn't enough buttons, a lot of the movement might be changed to "UP+A" or something like it.

Edited the main post to clarify what I'm asking
