WTF are you on about, online mode as making them money? You forget this online mode isn't going to be something you have to pay for, Nintendo is probably going to have to eat a lot of costs this way =X
And omg you're right; except for all those new characters, stages, modes, items, game engine that they added, SSBM was a total rehash! I mean it went from a dozen characters to like 26, 20 some odd stages, coin match, the 50 events, multi-man melee, home-run contest, Classic came back and yet they added Adventure and All Star, target test returned as well. These two games are very very different, even on a game mechanics level there is so much more in place:
- holding the analog stick to angle the direction you fly (yes it's true, most people don't even bother doing this though) - air and "down" dodging - catching yourself with block when you bounce off terrain - catching items in mid air - power shielding
Hell they even changed up all the old characters, none of them play identically to their N64 counterparts, and in some cases they're totally different: Fox
