Yea..uummm...if you have an "emotional connection" with Windows, there's a problem in your life that needs to be taken care of.
However, I did see a video of Vista (which was then known as Longhorn) that looked somewhat promising. They've certainly "kicked it up a knotch" in some cases. For example, after you log-in, the screen fades black and and then you hear a "zzzzzTTTTT" sound followed by a flash of light. After that, the desktop is reveiled, which looked pretty much like the XP desktop. It's probably changed by then though.
