QUOTE
I wanted to know why I should buy the new Classic NES Series version of Super Mario Bros. for my Gameboy Advance, when I could just pickup a copy of Super Mario Bros. DX for Gameboy Color for half the price AND get a bunch of extra features in it. I would think the new GBA version would have these but it doesn't. So what's up with that?

Sincerely,
-My real name-

Well said. Super Mario DX is a much better choice, it has challenge mode, Boo races and a watered-down but still fun and hard version of SMB The Lost Levels.

Edit: Not to mention saving!

They don't respond though. Only if it's printed.

Bill Nye asks you to...consider the following:

-At Sears, basically all Classic NES games are $5.00 brand new. The game probably fetches a similar price preowned from many fine stores.

-The lowest buy it now price on eBay for the Super Mario Bros. DX game is $14.28. Not necessarily a bargain considering its used. Even makes the $9.99 that Circuit City is charging for the GBA port look like a steal.

-If you've bought two copies of Pokémon, or just two wireless adapters, you can play 2-player with only one copy of the Classic NES game. If you don't like wireless play, you can always enjoy the same single cart multiplayer with a GBA link cable. Best part? You can spawn the game as much as you want, spreading the game like a virus to as many GBAs as you can.

-The GBA port is the only version that will work on your DS (and GBA Micro sadly enough.)

-Super Mario Bros. DX fixes glitches. How can you deny Mario of his Minus World heritage?

-The GBA port does come with a pretty cool manual/box, not near as cool as the Famicom Mini packaging, but still cool. You'll be hard pressed to buy the GBC game brand-new.

I've fine

No matter how much "fine you have," I can't see why you'd bother writing Nintendo about this. Even if you were completely and utterly right in your assertion that they were quickly trying to make a buck, (which of course, do not think I believe for a second they aren't) this won't necessarily make them change their plan of action for the Classic NES series. Besides, if it lets me enjoy wireless Dr. Mario for only 5 bucks I'm game.

But if your intention was not to make them rethink the whole idea, but rather to see how they'd stumble upon an answer, then I suppose I'm equally intrigued.

I do not understand why you'd be complaining about this. You say you have SMBDX. Just... don't buy the GBA port? O.o

Well, if it gets printed in Nintendo Power, I'd like to see how they handle their answer.

The reasons for why it is better in some aspects exist, but somehow I doubt they'd be able to pull them out.

Well I think it would be a joke to call it "Classic NES" when it's a remake. The Classic NES series is showcasing the original games. :P

It took me a while to understand what you're saying, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

You mean to say that Mario Gamer shouldn't expect extras since this is after all the "Classic NES" series who's namesake implies that the games are "faithful" GBA ports?

If that's what you meant to say, you're probably right...that seems like how Nintendo would handle such a letter if they even choose to answer it. sad.gif

Of course, the logic isn't completely misplaced, since all the glitches are in the port after all.

SMBDX doesn't have the 'one-way scrolling' that the original NES version has (At least I think it doesn't), so you could say that it was a lot easier in some places.

Plus, there's a good chance that the NES classic version still has all the bugs that the original had, and a large amount were fixed in SMBDX.

Well, there's limited backtracking, and you can make the screen go up and down. All of that is due to the fact that the graphics weren't scaled down in the GBC version like they were in the GBA version.

I don't plan on it becuase it makes no sense. DX should be cheaper, at least it is where I live. AND it has all the special features.
