The trails look nifty in the beta version.

Maybe the cages were for some sort of transport. And once again, there's the beta blue jays.

Wow, it looks like SMW was gunna have mushroom houses like in SMB3. Awesome.

Looks like a cage for princess peah, like the one in SMB (allstars). Also, isn't that the sprite of the unused blue jay?

That map one looks to me like a mock up, hence the amount of levels and 'weird' roads.

The world map looks better than the final version.

When i see beta screenshots, i allways see something, that makes me scream.."NO! YOU *******S! YOU SHOULD HAVE KEPT THAT IN THE GAME!!!" It might be that im so tired of the game, that looking at it in a new light seems awesome.

That might be it. Anything from the beta version of a game somehow appears 10 times better than it would if it had actually be included. For instance, the Citadel from GoldenEye, while ostensibly offering cool areas for hiding or sniping (I say "ostensibly" because I've only seen screenshots and haven't actually explored the level), wasn't nearly the elaborate level all those rumors made it out to be (example: several rumors suggested the Citadel was a multi-level gothic style cathedral).

Anyway, those screenshots are badass. And yeah, I do like the beta map style beta.

Yeah, I know. I've been tempted to whip out my GameShark (which probably doesn't work anymore) and give it a whirl, but I don't feel like hooking up the N64.
