We need to make these clear, and put somewhere where EVERYONE CAN READ THEM. This is so no entries are left out or people are complaining that entries are unfinished or joke entries or whatever. This is how a drawing competition goes. 1. The winner of the last competition makes a competition idea, or if whoever the winner hands this job off to if they choose to do so. 2. Drawing competitions last two weeks, give or take a few days. Some drawings take a lot of time and effort compared to making sprites. They are on a larger scale, using more special techniques and unlimited styles. 3. On the day top 5 voting is scheduled to happen, top 5 voting will happen. This is simple. All the entries that have been posted thus far that qualify will be listed, and anyone who wants to vote must list their favorite five entries by naming off the artists who made them. No particular order is needed, unless you feel the need. 4. The very next day, final voting will begin. An entirely new topic will be made, listing the top 5 that recieved the most votes. The topic should be named "Who wins the ... competition," since it's tradition and it avoids confusion. There, if you wish to vote, you must vote for one person. This will last ONE DAY. 5. Votes are counted. The person with the most votes wins, the person with the second most gets second place, and everyone else gets "top 5 honours." The winner then makes a competition idea. See 1, and repeat all steps. Got it? Very simple, yes? Good. Now, here are the RULES for drawing competitions. These are rules that have been unwritten rules until now, ones that we've established for ourselves, or the majority of ourselves, and have generally been accepted. These rules are listed here and are given specifics. Failure to comply will have you entry taken off, and further steps will be taken if necessary. 1. If the winner of the last drawing competition does not make a competition in 2 days (if there is no competition for 48 hours), the second place runner-up has permission to make the competition topic.
2. All entries that qualify with any rules below will be accepted and nobody should say otherwise. If it is not coloured, or it is in pencil or crayon or drawn on the wall of a cave, it is still an entry. Complainers may be dealt with either by their privileges being taken away, or anything worse if it gets out of hand.
3. All entries must follow THE STANDARD RULES OF THE BOARD. Failure to comply will have the entry removed and you will be warned.
4. "Joke entries" are okay for a laugh once in a while, but try not to post them here. Please post them in the Pointless Post Palace. If you list such entries of your own as "joke entries" they will not be accepted and will not make it on to any voting procedures.
5. If an entry is UNFINISHED, please say so. If you plan on colouring it later, please say so. But please do not post a picture and then say "I drew this for the idea, but I am not entering." The picture will be removed to avoid any confusion, and further steps will be taken if you continue to ignore this rule. All unfinished entries will not move on to any voting procedures.
6. Each artist may only enter one entry and one picture that is THEIR OWN, ONLY. Do not post two pictures (unless one is an unfinished, unqualifying sketch and the other is the finished product), do not post two pictures back to back in one file or entry. Do not post pictures for other people, do not post pictures for people who are banned. Any extra pictures that break this rule will be removed, and if you continue you will be taken out of the competition and all pictures will be removed. If you continue further, mods and admins will take care of you from there.
7. No bias in voting. If we believe you are biased in voting in any way because of the way you feel about the person, or any past acts between you and the person, your vote will not count and, with other things depending, you will not be able to vote in any drawing competition from then until after a certain number of competitions if you are allowed to vote at all anymore.
8. If your entry is stolen, or not drawn by you, you will be removed from ever entering any drawing competitions.
9. If your entry is the same exact idea as another person who earlier entered an entry (they drew Yoshi eating a bird, and you drew Yoshi eating a bird, both as the general idea of the pictures) you will not enter that entry into the competition, you will remove it, and you will either A. Draw a new entry, or B. Do not enter at all. Failure to comply will have your entry removed and you will not move on to any voting procedures.
ADDED TO 9: "What I mean is this: Let's say the topic was, Mario characters interacting with nature. There are tons of Mario characters to draw doing tons of different things. One person does Yoshi eating a bird from the top of a tree. Another person does the exact same thing."
10. If there is a tie, a tie breaker of some kind will be made, if it a fair one.
11. Do not vote for yourself. If you do, your vote all together will be completely disqualified. Top 5 or otherwise.
12. Do not vote twice. Only one of your votes will count.
13. Please make your votes clear. Do not reply with "Wow that's awesome Klobber" and then think people will know that is your vote. This screws things up a lot. If you do this multiple times in multiple competitions, your voting privileges will be taken away completely, so you don't waste our time anymore.
14. If you have had your voting privileges taken away, and you try to vote again, I will strongly urge any mod or admin that is on to warn you. These are rules, and contrary to popular belief, rules are NOT meant to be broken.
15. The creator of the competition has the final word. If a mod or an admin is around to sort things out, they have the final word over the creator.
ALSO: Do not say "YOU WIN" to anyone or any entry before all voting is finished, meaning, during the competition. This puts off other competitors and artists. I think that is all. This post has been edited by Joey on Aug 19 2005, 03:20 PM

| QUOTE (FanGuy @ Aug 18 2005, 10:01 AM) | | It'd be good if we put this topic into the archive forum and the person who starts each drawing competition puts a link to this topic at the very beginning of each drawing comp. |
Yeah, I was thinking that, and then I forgot about it. But yeah, it's a good idea.
| QUOTE | | I don't agree with number 9. Unless the two drawings are pretty much exactly the same (Same position, same look on the faces, same everything). If it's just two different drawings of yoshi eating a bird, there should be no problem. If two people have the same idea, there's no reason A AND B can't draw it, just as long as they aren't basically photocoppying the other's entry. |
What I mean is this: Let's say the topic was, Mario characters interacting with nature. There are tons of Mario characters to draw doing tons of different things. One person does Yoshi eating a bird from the top of a tree. Another person does the exact same thing.
| QUOTE | EDIT: Oh and I don't agree with 13, unless you are simply talking about the final voting topic.
|
I thought this was quite obvious on its own... Yes, the final voting topic, when do you ever vote for just one person other than that topic?

| QUOTE (Joey @ Aug 18 2005, 11:12 AM) | | Uh, yeah, there is, because it's the exact same picture in a different style. |
IF someone draws yoshi crouching, scratching his ass, eating a bird with a toothpick on their mouth facing left and smiling, and someone else draws yoshi crouching, scratching his ass, eating a bird with a toothpick on their mouth facing left and smiling, then yes, there's a problem. But if someone wants to draw Yoshi DOING the same thing, but drawn a different way, there shouldn't be a rule stopping that.

Pretty solid rule set you've got going for the most part. Mind if I type edit it? | QUOTE | you will be shot, or your voting privaledges will be taken away completely, so you don't waste our time anymore.
|
The word is "privileges."
Another nitpick of mine, seeing how these are official, I wonder if humorous lines like "you will be shot," "the need for speed," are worth posting in the vicinity of your stipulations. I don't mean to try to defeat your attempts at humor or anything, but I doubt too many people go to the rules to get their dosage of funny. After all, part of the audience you seem to be addressing would probably benefit from a set of rules that were completely "concrete" as far as their contents go. But that's just a minor gripe and nothing you have to seriously consider.
