I live in South Florida. That's about as far from Canada as is possible in the contiguous US. You do sound like my friends from Minnesota and Michigan, but I speak quite a bit differently.

Also, I wasn't being sarcastic or patronizing. I actually do like your accent.

Not at all. You're both Caucasian males with a larger build, but that's where the similarities end.

I just now realized how much my dad's old trenchcoat that I now own looks like JC Denton's.

My other friend commented on the about word too.



Of course, I don't notice anything different about it, I even purposely asked people to say "about" when I was in America, and there was no difference.



But if you're in the South, then yeah, there's definitely an accent difference.



I know you weren't being demeaning at all, I didn't take offense. It just made me get kind of excited, because someone else commented on that too, and I was like "omg conspiracy people."

Whoa, whoa. There's a division of American accents. The Northeast has two, the North/Midwest has another, the South has one, and the West and South Florida share an entirely different one. I certainly sound like no Southerner. I should upload a YouTube video illustrating the difference... Maybe I will, that'd be rather interesting.
