I hope you mean you won it in an online contest, because flaunting that you have the ability to illegally download games is definitely not cool. Also, you should be aware that the illegal downloadable CD version of Shenmue 2 is compressed(voices removed, textures ooglified, etc.) beyond recognition.

And aside from that fact, Zeldafreak makes it sound like "English subtitles" weren't present in the European version.

According to a recent Gamespot article they're still trying to get it off the ground. The rights are just up in the air.

Man, I hope it still falls through. It sounded painful from the perspective of Shenmue fans.

And I mean, if a game doesn't bode well with that audience, it doesn't seem like it'd cater to anyone (although perhaps some "hardcore" gamers do not care what game they're grinding on.)

Shenmue Online wasn't officially cancelled, development is to be handed off to a Taiwanese team that will finish it. it's like designing a clock; an MMO is a very basic concept, and Shenmue Online does not deviate from that, no matter how much they say it will have mini-games in the like; all footage of teh game shows standard MMO fair, attack "playlists" and completely hands off gameplay. Shenmue Online was also never planned for release outside of China, where kids do nothing but play MMOs anymore; the general idea was milk every franchise possible, since these games are so popular in China, and hey; Shenmue II as well as Online are based in China.

I nearly cried when I read this news earlier today.

My all time favourite saga will finally come to an end.....

Amen; by the end of Shenmue II you've beat up like 200 people; with very little repetition... no game is so well crafted, and could make a lengthy QTE where you're tossing peeps off a building one after another seem so important, structured, or bad ass.

Shenmue really is great, I still haven't played an adventure game that absorbed me as much as Shenmue. The fact that I only played 1 of the 16 chapters just gets me hyped up for the awesome of Shenmue III. Of course, I still haven't played Shenmue II, but it seems this new game will take care of all of that for me. Whether it's a remake or a compilation, it'll be great and I wouldn't mind playing the original Shenmue over again at all.

While we're on the subject though, I'd appreciate it if someone with the Xbox Shenmue II could tell me if it really has the manga packaged with it.
