For those who aren't up to date, Guinea won the last competition, and I got second. Since he created the last competition, it's up to me to get this one going, so here goes.

The theme for this competition is the world of Mario in the dark. It doesn't necessarily have to take place at night, despite the misleading title. It can be in a cave, the sewers, etc. It can basically be anything from the night levels in Super Mario Bros, to a subcon-themed minigame, to the minecart levels in Donkey Kong Country. Also, since it's so close to Halloween, all Halloween-themed games are allowed, too.

The end will be Monday, October 31st.

Rules:

* You can team up with whoever you like
* You can use Mario, but you don't need to
* All genres are allowed
* You have to do something matching to the darkness/Halloween theme

Why isn't this stickied yet?

Anyway, I've got my entry here. I know I made this a little quickly, but it didn't take long to do, since I had all the sprites already at my disposal. Basically, all you need to do is turn on the lights to destroy as many boos as possible, but, in order to do this, you need to hit the mirrors with fireballs, which deflect the fireballs upwards. If the red 'light boxes' are on, then a moving light will appear, and destroy any boos in it's path. If not, then the fireball will go out.

Also, hitting the boos with fireballs only makes them faster, so watch out.

I have a smooth engine, now all I need to do is make a level and add some enemies... expect it done by Tuesday.

I think the last time we saw SMW sprites is ages ago.

(Overall I think that SMB3 sprites have smw status now. But at least they look 10x better than smw!)

Nice idea. The only problem I have with it is the red light boxes are on for a very brief period of time.

Alright just an update, Yoshiman and myself are now working together again. Which'll be a sorta Wario Land based game. You'll see. biggrin.gif
