Bush admits responsibilty for poor Kitrana respons

So was anybody else weirded out to actually hear Bush take direct responsibility for once? I had to do a double-take the first time I heard it on the news, because I was sure they were lying to me.

(I'm also surprised ShadowMan hasn't already posted about this.)

Don't pull a Luara Bush by mispelling the name now.....

Anyways, he is most likely saying that because it was the General Opinion before he made the statement. He may have said it to get his approval ratings up.

Also notice in the video he had his head turned away from the camera and didn't make eye contact. I have never once heard a story of him sincerely saying to a camera that he was at fault.

That's a good thing, right?

No, his point was, if he was being sincere he woulda looked straight at the camera in the eyes of AMERICA and said it.

For some reason the whole looking away thing reminds me of that time he made a speech and they had a picture of him in the paper which was taken at such an angle that made it look like Bush was saluting the Israeli flag..

You know, it's possible that, and I'm sure he was, ashamed and couldn't face the camera >_>

Possibly. This isn't the first time Bush couldn't admit to doing anything wrong.

I still don't see how it's Bush's fault for a slow response time. I mean people wanted to stay, that's fine. But then they expect perfect timing getting them help? No. It doesn't work like that. What do you want, your life or your belongings? And about that they couldn't get out they had what years of this being predicted? And even then they had several days.

Might I remind you, he is indeed a man, or human, and it's human nature to do that. It's so easy to say "I would have looked straight at the camera blah blah blah." Imagine yourself, having to apologize to millions of people because you screwed up. I don't know about you, but that sounds frightening to me. If you CAN face millions of people and do that, then congrats, but I can understand him not being able to do that. I'm not going to say he wasn't sincere or not, because I am not him. Maybe he was sincere, maybe he wasn't, but atleast I do know he did apologize. I will say that he does need to learn how to face the camera, as it obviously is just making him look worse.
I don't know why I even responded to this. That whole Kerry comment just shows you are biased, and replying to this was pointless.

It's a human thing to not want to be ashamed of something so horrible, but he's the President, and he should be able to face the nation. It's understandable that aid couldn't come immediately, but it could have come at least four days faster than it did.

Honestly, if you can't have a reasonable debate, I might as well just ban politics altogether.

As long as you ban religious discussions in the process, although I don't see anything unreasonable about this debate right now :o
