Super Mario: The Odyssey Chronicles
Story:
One day in the Mushroom Kingdom, a mysterious cloud falls upon the land. The Nothern Volcano has erupted. Princess Peach is distraught at all of the news. She sends Mario on a quest called The Odyssey to see what the disturbance is. However, in the confusion of the thickening ash clouds, the Princes is captured. Kammy is in her throne. The witch sends out minons to take over the land. They infiltrate any Mushroom Kingdom strongholds and take over the poor citizens' homes and villages. Mario decides to carry out the Princess's plan: The Odyssey.

Okay, a few things about this engine:
People will Complain - I know very well that there are glitches in this engine. This is not the final engine. If you want to kindly point out a mistake or glitch, that's fine by me
Still in Progress - This is not the final engine. Just thought I'd stress that.
Sorry for harshness. Now enjoy...

Though Guinea is not the official programmer (I already have him working on another game of mine wink.gif ), he has volunteered to check over my coding for errors. Kudos to you Guinea!

I'm not to sure if I'll include running. it is very, VERY glitchy. So... I probably won't include running.
I hope I can get a simple engine test out soon. But I have to get Mario's collision right first.
Anyobdy willing to check over my code for errors please post here. I'll hand out my coding if you are willing.

The engine is going under some serious construction. I am making one from scratch, and I tell you: It's not easy! This is my first real attempt at using strictly GML, so I hope this turns out fine! But trust me, when The Odyssey Chronicles come out, they're going to be awesome!
A Little more on the Odyssey Chronicles:
Each game will be released at one time and each game will be a full game (with 10+ levels). I plan on making this game myself, instead of begging for help like I usually do wink.gif . So... stay tuned or whatever!

I can't decide what graphics to use... I thinking either SMB2 or SMB3 (both in SMAS form). I'm open to preferences and suggestions about anything you've seen above.

I say SMB3 are the best Mario sprites in the SMB series.
But on the other hand, everyone uses them nowadays so I suggest SMB2 sprites.
The only things you have to keep in mind is that with SMB3 you have more moves.

So if you can do it with SMB2 sprites, then do it.
If you need stuff from SMB3 that SMB2 didn't have, use SMB3.

Thanks for the support! So... SMB2 sprites then. But if I can find decent sprites from an older game, maybe I'll use those.

Okay.
The graphics look nice.
-There's some "grid" drawn randomly on screen. I don't know if that's just me, but if not, you should fix that!
The engine is as you said glitchy.
-Mario jumps some pixels up, if he touches the ground.

And I think I'll go with a graphical change...maybe the small SMW Mario. SMW has good Map Screen crap too. And I like the little Mario.

All the tiles look separated slightly... I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the framerate or the camra or something.
