Yeah, aside from this pointless junk, here's how to do it.

Make an active object that fits Mario's width and is about 5 pixels high.

In the event editor, make an event that says

Always - Set position of active object to Mario (set the x and y coordinates accordingly to Mario so that it fits Mario's width and is about 2 or 3 pixels above his head)


Then, add another event that says

Active object collides with brick - Destroy Brick (or whatever you have it do)



There ye be.

It works best if you're using a static engine, too. Objects with built-in platform movement start acting weird when they collide with active object "obstacles."

That's why you make the invisible active object's width about 2 pixels shorter on each side of the brick.

Actually, he's using the bonus pack platform extension, which is damn near flawless when it comes to such collisions.

Anyway, Yoshiman's idea is good, but because I understand the platform extension a bit, I'd suggest you add a condition for the platform object jumping (has to be placed at the top of the event).
