OH MY SWEET LORD! BUMPTY! BUUUUMPPTTYYYYYY!!!!!

Oh, and I'm going to have to check with RII and the host of Penguinia to see if it's okay for you to upload something like this. It's a bit of an iffy thing, NES Boy, you should probably upload these to your own server somewhere as soon as you can because I'm not sure our host will like us hosting savestates, even if they aren't ROMs.

*reads thread*
Too much e-reader stuff, ROMs, japanese versions, hacks, I'm not too crazy about this..
EDIT: Yes, I felt I really had to get that out. I'm sorry but no, I do not see any joy in e-reader extras.

What are you complaining about? It's just a savestate for some e-reader levels, and we're talking about all the cool stuff heretofore undiscovered in the levels.

OH MY GOD!!!! THE FLYING PIRANHAS FROM SUPER MARIO WORLD!! SWEET JESUS LORD!!!!

There's a lot of enemies from old games in these levels. =)

@PK: Why can't you just keep your opinion about ROMs to yourself for once? We're not posting the ROMs so what is your deal?

Complain complain complain. Why don't you see any joy in it? Is it because people are "racing to rip graphics" again or what? What is the POSSIBLE harm in playing a few levels of a game, levels which we can't play otherwise because of these being Japanese only?

I noticed those bugs from SMB2 as well, AWESOME.

And Wiggler!

And Magikoopa!

And Airship levels that act as fortresses!

Klobber, have you tried level 21 yet? Christ, that's hard. ohmy.gif You have to get to the goal in a minute and there are obstacles EVERYWHERE. The best way to get through the level is as small Mario and of course, that leaves you with being instantly killed by any enemies you touch.

Oooh yeah, that was a tricky one. Genius idea for a level too. Man, there's some really good stuff in here. Nintendo needs to release an entire game like this, these levels are just too good.

Oh dude, what about the one fortress level with Kuribo's Shoe, that was awesome. And that other fortress where you have to keep bouncing on enemies to get across.

QUOTE (NES Boy @ May 25 2004, 05:27 PM)
On a side note, I was hoping to run into SMW Goombas, pictured below.

They're in there, they start parachuting down at the end of one of the levels. Forgot which one though.

The last two Mushroom levels (29 and 30) are genius. In the last one, you start out in the exact same room that the previous level ended at. NES SMB3 hackers should take note of all these levels.

Man, it makes you wonder about Bouche's SMA4 hack...

I don't think Bouche's done any hacking for a good while. I'll ask where abouts he was at with his little project.

I'll also ask him about the Klown Kopter sometime. Course, I'll probably have to give him some savestates first. :P

ARghklsfd;.DF.K gOD damn Nintendo for never releasing the e-reader for Europe...

Questions about it:
1. How do you get your hands on the e-reader cards?
2. Once you use a card to unlock something, does it stay unlocked forever?
3. None of this extra stuff is actually lying dormant hidden deep within the game cartridge, so the cards actually contain new information. Is this correct?

Think how bad us poor Europeans have it...

EDIT: Nevermind
Lest I get attacked for my opinion.

I still don't see what the problem is with playing these levels that we're never going to get to play otherwise. It's not ANY different from you using a Gameshark to do things in SM64 you'd not be able to do otherwise.

Alright:

I don't see anything cool about this new stuff. That's all.
First of all it's that blasted e-reader again, I was never a fan of that. But this is only just some mario enemies in SMB3, and I don't see what's so glorifyingly spectacular. And for some reason I'm a little freaked out when people are rejoicing over all this. I really just wanted to get that first comment of mine out, I would've ended right there. I operate that way sometimes... But everything I say just has to always be challenged till the bitter end. v_v

And coupled with all this mention of GBA rom talk and GBA ROM hacking talk, the same stuff that we don't even condone on this site, why do people do it behind the site's back? It feels like bullets are being dodged and I'm missing it all.

And with the sprite races; just no.

I don't think that credit needs to be given to people who rip sprites. Seriously if you think about it, sprites seem to be like a collective ideology, a big library that people expand on. They're there when people need them. That's the only reason they have these races, to get credit for a ripped sprite the fastest. And then the one ripping the main sprites first gives that person absolute credit to those sprites for the future. That's just wrong. I don't think it needs to be that way. Why can't people just rip when in the mood?

That's pretty much the multitude of what I have to say about that. That's my entire feelings about the matter, and I can't really say any more. That's my strong opinion on this, I never said I wanted to change anybody, I just feel I had to say what I felt, and I'd expect people will treat this opinion like anyone else's.
