Nsync doesn't exactly have "Heart", and I still enjoy it.

They were never really punk though were they. They were as "punk" as Blink182, Bowling for Soup or Simple Plan.

All of those are just what many class as "Pop Punk" which if anything is an oxymoron.

Punk really being "The Sex Pistols" "The Romones" "Rancid".

Granted, "Ramones", "Sex Pistols", etc. being the true essence of punk rock... Green Day was one of the first bands to popularize the sound into the 90's...

But bands like Blink 182 and Simple Plan never had heart to begin with. Their music sucked from its genesis. Heart being different from this "emo"tional s*** that's propogated now. Heart being true caring for the music, which is what punk was in the early days (along with traditional rock and roll antiauthoritarianism and drugs)... Green Day seems to have lost their heart... which is really sad...

Personally, i like greenday's new CD, mainly cause i bought it before the cheap videos came out and portraid it as super emo, the songs aren't bad, there punk-pop, too light for punk, too heavy for pop. though, i do like greenday's older stuff, Brain stew, Nice guys finish last, basket case, ya know.

Also i'm the type of person who likes music for the same of music, i like everything (except rap and most country).

Green Day really went downhill with their most recent album American Idiot. I kinda liked their older stuff much better though.

If you think that Green day's video is not family friendly, you should see Gwar's video "Phallus in Wonderland"

God damnit jukz will you just shut the hell up about Gwar for a minute? We're talking about GREEN DAY.

Yeah, to be honest I liked the songs a lot more before the videos came out and ****ed everything up, and before Boulevard of Broken Dreams became so god damn popular. I still enjoy listening to their new album along with all their other ****, though I think all their anti-government talk is really wasted with the trendy assmunchers who listen to their music. For example, Lee Harding, the biggest knobhead in the world, sung their song 'Holiday' on Australian Idol and did a terrible job at it and got rid of all the swearing and just screwed the lyrics up, and Mark Holden (one of the judges) was all 'Ohhh mate, was that a political statement? You got something against bush, mate?' and Lee is all 'AW NAH I JUST LIKE THAT SONG... ITS PUNK ROCK. THATS THE TYPE OF MUSIC I WANNA PLAY.' and then it all went downhill from there. Many discussions with my trendy emo girlfriends about how much of a ****head Lee is and them completely missing the point usually went all the same way.

'...but he just went up there, smiling and jumping around like he was singing a song about how much he loves kissing girls when the song is about ****ing WAR.'

'Well Ben, maybe he doesnt LIKE kissing girls!'

'...'

Many purist type music lovers don't care about the actual sound of music. They only care about the context in which music is made and/or listened to. To me that's the worst crime ever.

Listen to music. If you like how it sounds, you like it. Who cares about "selling out?" or anything like that? That's all stupid.

Music is music. Plain and simple.

Agreed.

The sadest thing I find is the fact that they sold themselves out dispite not needing the money in the first place.

Thats like Metallica not wanting their music downloaded on the internet, they dont need the money, they are friggin Millionairs.

There are 2 types of people, people who play games, listen to music and watch movies and only take in whats there.

The other person being the type who play games, listens to music and watches movies and looks underneath/behind it.

I am person 2. When I watch a movie, I wonder how they do some of the special effects, if the scenary is a set or a real location, what made the director put "that" in the movie. When playing games I think, I bet that took them along time to design, Thats not needed, but it adds to it. And when listening to music I think, Those lyrics are pretty deep, I wonder what they mean. Do they mean somthing that everyone understands, or maybe somthing the band or the vocalist understands aswell.

Person 1 is somone who is less Appreciative, but more easy to please.
While person number 2 is very Appreciative, but harder to please.

So a type 2 person is willing to accept or reject a creation based on how it came to be?

This makes no sense to me. So if Mozart-quality music was made today by a band who Type 2 people deem to be commercial, it would be rejected?

Sad.

Sorry, I didnt explain that well enough.

Person 2 is both the first and the second.

Person 1 is just the first.

Also, I personally enjoy most classical music, as its music in its purest form.

Classical music is probably my favourite Genre of music, for the same reason.

And I sort of see where you are coming from. I think most people look behind the music for other things. But to me this is not a reason to accept or reject music. If you want to reject a band, sure, go for it. But if a song is good, if you like how it sounds, then it doesn't matter who made it. Just because you like a song does not mean you have to like a band.

The thing alot of people forget is, its the way your body reacts which will mainly tell you if you like that piece of music.

You body will react without you knowing.

Ever listen to a song and had a weird fuzzy feeling or all over yor body?
Ever seen the hairs on your arms stand on end when you listen to a piece of music.

If "YOU" your mind likes it or not, your body will infact tell you if it does.

Freaky, eh?
