After Lord of the Rings, whatever people he has working for him decided he needed to start wearing shoes and lose some weight if he wanted to appear publicly.

You should see him in Bryan Singer's video blogs for Superman Returns. He's so frickin' tired out that not only did he have to call Singer to direct some scenes for him, but he's literally falling asleep in his chair moments after speaking.
