I saw this movie last night at midnight. The audiance was terrible during a lot of the movie, but besides that, the movie kicked tons of ass.
I was very impressed with it. They fit a lot of the book in... well, at least that's what my friend told me. I haven't read the book in years.
Anyway, I'm viewing this from just a movie standpoint, since I don't remember the book aside from Mr. Tumnus. As a stand alone movie it works fantasticly. You're never really left wondering "Wait, so what. Why did THAT happen" etc etc. The movie is about two and a half hours, yet it SEEMS like it goes on far longer than that. And that's not a bad thing it all. It hooks you right away and doesn't let go. The effects are awesome (I couldn't get enough of the CGI animals. Goddamn they were cool. Especially Aslan and the beavers). They did a fantasitc job with fusing two animals together, like the Centurs or most of all: Mr. Tumnus.
Honestly, it got me more hooked than the LotR movies, but I'm sure I'm a minority in that department. It never succumbs to being a childish movie (Spoilers:the scene where the witch kills Aslan is pretty brutal. They pretty much torture him first, and then she stabs him), but kids can watch it too. There were also some funny bits.
The movie was filmed in New Zealand, where LotR was filmed. Godamn they've got some beautiful scenery.
So yeah. See this movie. It rocked. N' stuff.

Haha, well turns out I didn't get to see it until 20 days later. Ah, well. The movie was GREAT. Absolutley amazing, the story was perfect, while a bit like LOTR, and the characters were well written. The movie did kind of speed up at the end and leaves you kind of wanting more battle scenes. The special effects were jaw dropping as well as the animation. And the animals didn't look stupid talking, how they pulled that off I have no idea. This is a movie for kids and adults. Think of it as a LOTR for the weaker at heart as well as everyone else. Okay I'm lazy, time to end. 9/10 | QUOTE | Peter Pevensie: Here, put on this coat. Edmund Pevensie: But that's a girl's coat.
