I doubt it'll hurt you to see sprites of a character from a Mario game. It wouldn't spoil anything for you, really. M&L is much more deep than one character. Fawful comp would rule! =D

Also, I see RPGs kinda like Final Fantasy, you dont know who the ultimate villian is until the last leg of the game. It's not like one can't animate it, it's more like one might not want to. It's the ability to be animated that counts (plus many of us are lazy

I use Paint and save them either in MS Gif Animator or in PSP as a gif.
