I don't know, but it would have been a good idea for the mario party one, cause Mario Party 5(I think) had a snowball fight game, I'm not certain on the number, but it was the one with the book where you bought pages for it.

Different in terms of what?

Just throwing snowballs won't be counted as innovative.
Throwing as the action itself is something Mario has always been doing and other guys too.

Snowballs aren't forbidden, but only throwing them won't be enough to work here, sorry.

yes, I was wondering the same thing, also a little update.

LuigiFan12 and I are still doing the Mario Music Master, he sent me an incredible engine so he convinced me to stay with the idea.

But obviously throwing snowballs isn't much more than throwing fireballs.

You can also do something Nintendo did:
Nintendo didn't invent force-feedback, but they were the first to use them in a home console.
So you can do something that's just new to fan-gaming, like 3D or whatsoever.

You can also try to create unique controls, like the ones I named in my spoilers tag on the first page.
I am for example using the idea with the mouse-platformer myself.
You control the game by nothing but the mouse and mostly only mouse movement, not clicking. Of course, since it's winter, I'm allowed to use snowballs and everyone else can do it to, but the snowballs aren't the innovative part of it.

You can also have an innovative idea like Nintendo had with Pokemon, create an RPG that deals with catching and collecting monsters instead of meeting 4 guys and fighting with them.
Another thing would be if you invented a new scoring system or anything like that or you create a new sport.

I have a bit of advice too for y'all: Innovation comes from alone if you want to do innovation. Not if you want to win a competition by just matching your game to any rules.

Something else: You CAN if you want create something that is playable with some unique controller, like a microphone or something. In this case though you must remember that not everyone has a mic at home so you can prepare a video that demonstrates how this game would be played. Maybe you win althought the chances are small. But maybe the idea can make it alone as you all are very excited about Revolution without having really played it yet.

I'm afraid driving a vehicle (tractor) and moving over stuff (snowpeople) to change its appearance (destroy) has been done before... ok, if it's once or twice, it doesn't have to be totally new. But the basic idea has been used in a lot of games, going back to arcade and the first games. e.g. Death Race 3000 used the same idea.

You do have to do something more innovative.
The best is to take a shot on the controls, because so you can reuse ideas but control them differently.

HEY I just got the idea.
You can do your snowball game.
But don't be like "press key -> throw snowball"
Use the mouse!
My idea is this:
Move the mouse down to the snow, pick up snow (press left button) and throw it.
"Throw it" means swing your mouse to give it a direction and speed. Release the snowball from your "hand" by releasing the left button.
Ready is your innovative snowball throwing game.

You can use it without credits.

Okay, I am making a game where you click to make action boxes so your character can spin and other things with the help of a cursor, but you still use left and right to move Tanooki Mario (Because it's winter, so he's in a warm outfit ohmy.gif ), but he will slip on the snowy ground making it a tad hard to control, the enemies are Goombas, and you can collect coins as well.
