Hex editing.
It can edit text. Uncompressed, of course.
The Best Hex editor around is probably Translhextion.
Of course, some stuff may be compressed, and you can't edit that..
And text editing is pain. 99 % of the words can't be longer than they're originally.
For example, every "Mario" would have to be replaced with a 5-character word.
Some words are in the hex like this "Something . . . .". Those dots mean unused space, so if there are dots or spaces, you can extend the limits..

Last time i tried to edit those, there was problems ingame.

Try edit Parakarrys "Mail Call!" early in the game.

I'll just create a table the hex editor can use.
for example, if 05FF gives "E" but is displayed as "^" ill just write:
05FF = E

in a table file.

Yeah, actually, I discovered the text over a year ago, and decoded most of the special symbology of it.

There's most of my documentation on the symbology. There's some neat text functions that didn't get used in the game, and lots of colors and such. Some of the functions couldn't be replicated in the decoder, but can be done so in the rom. If you replace text or symbols, make sure the rom remains exactly the same size, to the byte.

Those are error codes. When PM encounters an error, it will halt the game and dump the error to screen. I've personally encountered the trap exception.
