Five replies for five hours of skimpy mermaid and that's saying something

One for every hour. How nice and perverted.

More like 15 hours. That's one post for every 3 hours.

QUOTE (Jomo the Clown @ Jan 7 2006, 11:55 PM)
I notice that when people post art, the number of comments depends on WHO posted the art. That's my assumption. I'm not going to point out ANYONE. Some people work very hard on their projects, and are very gleeful into posting it and everyone seeing it in awe. But that doesn't happen for them. 4-6 hours, or even days, spent, only to know that no one cares.

I know this isn't a problem that anyone can fix, but I just don't like that :/

EDIT: This is an opinion topic. Post your view of the situation.

I know. When I posted my pixel art, I only get 2-4 comments while some crappy looking art get 1,000 comments and I was like WTF?! That's why I got myself a DA account so I can at least get 10 or more. That's unfair... sad.gif

QUOTE (Tragic @ Jan 8 2006, 10:30 AM)
This is just me, but when the art is very good (as yours is, Jomo) I don't feel like posting just to say "Awesome work! I like it a lot... biggrin.gif "... I just feel stupid when doing things like that. When the art is not quite as good, sometimes I'll post what I don't like, but still be positive to the art as a whole... I don't know, that's just how my mind works...

... to be honest that's how I feel XD
it sounds really weird but if a picture's really, really nice sometimes I'm afraid to comment on it because I'll think I'll look stupid, and I'll ruin it with my stupid comment or something, god I can't even understand how that works D:

... and I feel like my comments are stupid for some reason, I really can't think of anything else to use other than "awesome" sad.gif bad word range or something

... and I would say something for every topic but I'd think that's flooding then and freak out again ... eh

A lot of it also depends on the content posted. When it involves MFGGers being drawn, there's gonna at least be 200 replies to the topic. When it's your own original artwork, unless it involves VG characters, expect maybe 20 replies at best, 15 of them being your own updates to the topic.

The fanart thing is true anywhere, most people are more apt to comment on something if it brings them some nostalgia. One time I spent like 2 hours on some original pics for someone and it got a whopping zero comments.

Really though, you should keep drawing anyway regardless of comments. I draw to please myself, which is why most of the things I draw are really obscure old video game characters that almost nobody gives a crap about. I draw them because I feel like it.

Of course criticism and stuff is important too so that's the only real drawback to not getting comments.
