So me and my friend both got USB adapters today. I have yet to try and install mine, but his is not installing properly. We turned off his firewall and virus blockers and attempted to install it everything seemed to work properly. Then we got to the part where it was time to insert the adapter into the USB port, we did and everything seemed to work but then we got the error message "please insert the nintendo wi-fi usb connector into your computer's USB port." and it was already in. After that the installer refused to work. I checked on www.nintendowifi.com and read the trouble shooter and everything seemed like it should work, but so far no luck installing it. Any suggestions?

are you sure its in the right USB port?

Some USB ports are meant for memory sticks n stuff.

since when did a standard USB port have special use? The only difference I know of is USB 1.1 vs USB 2.0, which could be a problem if the adapater requieres USB 2.0 but it's an old computer that only has 1.1. I know if the OS is XP though, it would usually see that and complain about it.

If you're using Win98, its USB support has always sucked.

While mine worked fine and we both have very similar computers. Both of us are using Windows XP so that's not the problem.

Even though he already stated he's using XP, just remember that other operating systems aren't an issue right now since the adapter only supports XP.

In order to further troubleshoot your problem, perhaps you should try other USB devices on your friends computer and see if they work properly.
