Oil Man gets a non-offensive color scheme., For the world outside Japan.

For those of you who haven't heard yet, Capcom of Europe has revealed how Oil Man is gonna look in versions of Mega Man Powered Up outside of Japan. First, though, his original, racist design:



And now, the same, non-racist artwork:



At least Mega Man, Proto Man, Bass, and Duo aren't the only ones who can change colors.

Eh small color changes, nothing much. I just hope the megaman fans wont get upset over this small change

There are SOME black people in video games, but they mostly reside in the urban market of games, though there are exceptions.

The fact that people are seeing Oilman as being a negative connotation towards black people just furthers my insistence on shooting people into the sun. Honest to god, what kid is gonna play this game, look at Oilman and go "HOO MOMMA, LOOK AT THAT GREASY ******!" ****, how many kids even KNOW about blackface anymore?

I'm not angry at the color change persay (even though he looks like Waterman now), but by the fact that Capcom's *****footing because of archaic racial stereotypes that are COMPLETELY NONEXISTANT in Oilman. Now, if he was called "Fried Chicken Man," looked like that, and spat watermelon seeds, THEN I'd see cause for alarm.

I'd be inclined to agree with you guys, but we also live in the country where Nintendo received complaints over Jynx's character design. Not that I think Capcom should have tampered with it, but I don't really mind Capcom doing a palette swap in order to avoid some crazy mother spewing acid all over Capcom HQ.

I didn't instantly notice the "big lips, black skin" thing, though I see it now. I doubt many people would've found the original design legitimately offensive, though I don't blame Capcom for altering the design (and perhaps I'm wrong about not that many people being offended by it, anyway).

how black people look like monkeys confuse me. Cyborg 009 had a black guy who looked like a monkey in the manga version :/

People considering that offensive? They need to learn a lesson in what's evil and unacceptable *revs up chainsaw and walks into public school, ready to rock*

Alot of old cartoons are banned because of the Dark dark skin and big red/white lips characters
