Well I've never heard of a drunk person installing tape recorders. XD Nah in all likelihood they are just like my parents used to be, overprotective and paranoid. My dad used to try and sneak in on me when I was on the comp or find other ways to monitor me because he thought I was up to no good on the INTERNETS.

In high school my parents and I went to see a counselor and I told her about my internet life (well, about the meeting other people and talking to them aspect). Fortunately she understood and had a talk with my parents about it, and after that they weren't nearly as paranoid. My parents now are fully aware of how I talk to people online and are perfectly fine with it, and even ask me about my online friends often.

I dunno if counseling would be an option your parents would be willing to consider, but maybe you could talk to them about this and find out why they're doing it, and then go from there. Try to reason with them if you can, about how they need to trust you enough not to do things like record you. Worth a shot, just try and be civil about it and not accusing, that never goes over well with parents.

Problem is I don't know where they hide it. As soon as I find it I'm breaking it over my knee and I'm going to EAT the tape ribbon.

Don't eat it. Pull all the tape out and decorate the house with it. Or chop it up.

That sounds like what my parents are up to now. And your counselor sounds heaps better than my current one, she suggested to my parents to MONITOR my internet use all the time.

If my parents recorded what I did in my room, it'd be a boring listen.

All I do is play games and go on the Internet.

If my parents did that to me, I'd speed up job hunting and start looking for a car and a house. (current age 19)

You know what you should do.

Meditate, to reduce noise, speak really quiet, or use the speaker near mic technique to find the recorder.

Or get into Wicca... scare the **** outta your parents.

Give them what they want. Talk to yourself, fake crying uncontrollably, play porn VERY loudly... they'd be shocked, and when they approach you with it, explain why you did it.

Haha yeah, trace your history to this forum... To this topic, and maybe they'd even join! Maybe they joined months ago when you first started coming here! Maybe they've been trying to fit in as a popular MFGGer! Named Caramellos <3!

Mason, I want to have a word with you after dinner tonight.
