Conservative Minority Government for Canada

A Conservative minority goverment has been elected.

For those that are not fluent in Canadian politics, a minority goverment means that the elected government cannot pass bills without support of another party. There are 309 seats, so a party needs 155 seats to have a majority goverment. Conservatives are expected to be short of that number.

The Liberal party has been in government for over 13 years, and a few scandels have tripped up their campaign, which is why a change of government is the driving force for a Conservative government.

If any bill proposed by the minority government is not passed, an election is called again. It should be interesting to see what happens in the near future.

Disgusting, IMO.

Harper sucks, but he's a hell of a lot better than Martin.


The NDP should have won. Then again, they're for abortion.


AND THEN AGAIN, Conservatives are against gay people.

And Martin is FOR gay people, but royally screws up everything.



We need to elect me as Prime Minister for Canada.

No pls. Harper will do fine, and if he doesn't, he's out. That's why Minority Governments are good.

Harper WON'T do fine, unless he's actually done his research and figured out how people are now compared to 10 years ago.

Harper is an intelligent man, he's not about to waste 13 years of Conservative effort to be elected.

What do you think he will do that is so bad?

Compared to Martin he'll do fine, methinks.

But honestly, what has Martin done that was so bad? Nothing. But that's just it, he didn't do anything.

What sort of bill do you think Harper will try and pass that will be so "bad"? Guess what, he won't try and pass a bill like that because it will be rejected.

Harper may be forced to right the centre line, but they probably have the Bloc in their pocket.

We'll see how this plays out.

Still voted NDP.

Paul Martin was the Finance minister during the Sponsorship scandal, and claims he new nothing about the lost money.. so yeah, it's pretty obvious what the rest is.
