I am going to try to make my own sound effects for my game rather than stealing from official games as usual. Does anyone know how to get a .wav compressed just after making one in Windows' built-in sound recorder? Or would it even matter with these .wavs lasting only a second or two?

I, for some reason, want to keep the game's filesize as low as possible.
EDIT: Oh yes, in case you need to know... I use Multimedia Fusion.

It doesn't really make that big of a difference, unless you're planning the game to be huge. How big are you planning on making it?

GoldWave can compress WAV's

To do so, open the WAV in it and save it as a different type - generally mono with a lower bitrate

It's not really about how big I'm going to make it. I just want to make it as easily accessible as I can to everyone.

Oh and thanks, Draco. It cut it down from 22.4 kb to 11.2. smile.gif

In sound recorder; when you save you can cut down the bit rate and make the sound mono, reducing it to ridiculously low file size at a minimal cut to quality.

Also please note that you can install sound codecs to save in more WAV formats -- but your players will reqire this codec also
