Game Over - Nintendo Metal, Power metal, that is.

This is Awesome, These people have covered some of the Coolest songs in Nintendo history, and Completely redid them, they have a new CD coming out soon, with what i know of, Zelda's lullaby.

I'm automatically biased against any song remakes that aren't made by the original producer, especially if there is singing added to them o.0

I said there based on the originals, and the Heavy mario is Pure Metal, Original Mario bros theme.

Any Zelda?

Yep.

Don't take this offensively, but I personally don't care whether they're based on the original songs. They weren't created by the original producers, and that's what counts to me. I'm very picky in my music choices. Either way, I'm no fan of Heavy Metal rock music :p

Nope, It has some of the mellodies mixed into their songs, it's still their material, so it's 100% legal to sell.

Second of all, IT STILL HAS COPYWRITED MATERIAL MIXED INTO IT

The mario theme is correct, but i have the legend of zelda song on an official cd(non-nintendo)

And, 90% of game themes actually aren't copyrighted.

one last thing, you can barely hear it, it's usually the lyrics are related to the game, with a small riff thats simmaler to a theme in it.

Notice how in most games the credits say something along the lines of "All rights, including scenario, program and music copyright Nintendo"?

Game music is copyrighted just like any other kind of music.

That being said I'm not sure whether it's legal or not to sell REMIXES of the music. But it would seem an iffy prospect at best...

They've been around since 1998.

And not all games have copyrighted music, Nintendo does, for the metroid, mario, and Zelda games. Halo has copyrighted music, and so does final fantasy, but thats actually about it.

In other words, they're still selling remixes of several songs that are copyrighted, though like I said before I'm still not sure that that would be illegal.

And game music isn't copyrighted? Obscure freeware games maybe, but I find it very hard to believe that most game music isn't copyrighted. Game music is just like any other form of music, and MOST music artists copyright their work. To be a composer for game music, a job that you would be paid for, and NOT copyright your work would be absurd unless you just enjoy other people being able to legally profit from your work by using your music without your permission.

Care to link to a source that states otherwise? Not trying to be a smart aleck here, I just would like to know how you got under the impression that "most" game music isn't copyrighted.

Most percentages are, but it is true. Google it for yourself.

And christ, all i wanted to do was show some people some wicked music, that some people made, and you people go and complain that it's illegal.

AND I JUST CHECKED WITH THEM, THEY GOT PERMISSION! SO HA! HA! HA!

Any game company that put serious dollars into creating the soundtracks for their games (and I can think of many aside from the ones you just listed) would be stupid not to copyright their music.

I seriously doubt this.
