Yes Discovery Zones/etc. kicked ass... especially the plastic tubes and slides with the metal bolts that shocked the hell out of you.
I also miss when school was either not an issue or not very intrusive in life
And a ****load of other stuff I don't feel like listing now

i remember we had a bunch of these weird things that were basically flexible foam tubes and cubes with dildoes on each side so you could stick them together and build all sorts of crazy things... now we just have a few of the tubes laying around ;_; and all sorts of other building toys too, i still have a huge tub of legoes and two almost-as-big tubs of k'nex, some erector sets or whatever they're called, these things where the pieces are mostly flat panels with sawtooth edges, and these other weird things that i don't know the name of either but hey, anything that can be soveryhappy must be awesomeohh, and i used to go through the house with a ball of yarn tying it to everything so you couldn't get through the room :D This post has been edited by Quicky on Feb 2 2006, 04:18 AM

- Making forts and stuff. I used to do this all the time.
-Getting really, really excited over video games. When I got Yoshi's Island, I ran through the house yelling with glee and jumping up and down. Total idiocy. But I miss it.
-Playing EarthBound for the first time. I ALMOST didn't buy it, but decided to get it at the last minute. This was in the days before the internet and it was my first RPG. So much fun.
-The SNES/NES/GB era. I feel kinda sorry for today's generation of gamers because they probably can't enjoy the old games the way I did. I don't really blame them, because they've become used to the updated graphics and storylines and presentation and stuff...and those things are undoubtedly good...but man, remember playing the NES? Remember blowing into the cartridges because they randomly wouldn't work? Remember the first time you got the Raccoon Leaf in Super Mario 3, or the first time you threw a vegetable in SMB2?
Now we kinda just take stuff like that for granted and expect all games to have the usual share of powerups/weapons/whatever. Not so in those days, we all thought that stuff was cool as hell. In those days, I loved almost every game I played to some extent. I was nowhere near as picky as I am today about games. I have fond memories of going over to my cousin's house, watching them play Punch Out or Super Mario Bros - incidentally, the first game I ever played.
We'd have these big get-togethers and play games together. Back when the NES was relatively new, so every game we got seemed really cool and fun. I think I'm the only member of my family who still plays video games now.
-Duckboy, thanks for reminding me about the playground equipment. Our stuff was not safe at all - and I lost two teeth to prove it. We were playing tag, see, and the kid in front of me was...well, he was kinda fat. Really wide. I was a very small kid for my age, so I couldn't see around him, and as I was chasing him, he veered off to the right suddenly. Right in front of a swingpost. I didn't change directions fast enough, ran into the swingpost (which was made of HARD metal), and knocked out my two front teeth.
-Exploring the forest/river/lake/whatever. I lived in the countryside and there were a lot of these places to explore. I always wanted to build a treehouse but never got around to it.

Ah, so many things to remember.
Well, I'm only fifteen so some things will seem older to me than to others.
I was really small and short, so everything seemed much bigger than usual. Heck, I needed a booster seat til I was about six. I remember getting "lost" at Target, in reality, I was in the mattress 'cave'. Those places with tubes kicked ass. Chuck E. Cheese was also funner(is that a word?) when they didn't have stupid safety stuff. I kinda remember when there were benches and allowed grown ups to smoke. I also remember being afraid of the slides, not because of height, because of being shocked or burned. I'd make a sand mountain, I didn't have a bucket so I had to make moutains. I always wore dresses, because mom thought I looked cute. (I thought i was cute too) I was also afraid of Mario, because every time I tried to play, I'd die or the game crashed. So then I was introduced to Sonic the Hedgehog, who would be my number one hero for a long time. I was always filled with glee when AoSTH came on. I was too little to play video games though but I always enjoyed watching my older sister play. Now, about Sonic, he really was my hero, which is kind a good, because it made me the fastest kid on my soccar team. I remember they made spagetti-os shaped like Sonic and friends. There was Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Dr. Robotnik. I was shocked when I found out there was a 'new' character in Sonic 3. when I got older, I was confused as hell when in Sonic Adventure one, they called what I knew as Robotnik all my life as "Eggman". I don't even think he looked like an egg. The fact there were on earth didn't really confuse me, I only watched AoSTH, I skipped SaTAM and the comic. I also thought Mobius was just the area they lived in. I thought they lived on earth. Anyways, I basicly miss being able to fit into stuff like the washer and to play in tubes and playgrounds.

Yeah I'm not leaving.
