Kramer's post reminded me of the fun stuff outside.

Hiking, playing in the woods, swinging from vines, climbing trees, Making "bases."

I remember getting all my friends over and pretending outside we were in resident evil. Or pretending we were in DBZ.

Or something else we made up.

QUOTE (Duckboy @ Feb 2 2006, 01:52 AM)
Sometimes, even 19 feels like old age when you think about what used to be.

Remember in playgrounds? The playground equipment wasn't this cheap plastic SAFE crap we have nowadays. It was metal, hard, HOT AS HELL during the summer, but you played on them anyway. What happened to that... Times have changed.

Or the ball pit in Discovery Zones or Chucke E Cheeses.

Remember making big elaborate forts out of pillows, bedsheets and random chairs in the house?

Be nostalgic, gents.

Dude, you had metal equipment when you were a kid?!

I had wood... I think i still have splinters.

But i digress.

I miss playing through the great games of our time for the first time.

Super mario 3, Mario RPG, Final Fantasy 3, Kirby's adventure, Final fantasy 7, Goldeneye, Perfect dark, Mario 64. All of those old great games, That were just amazing when we first played them, but have since beat them to a pulp, and can recite them inside and out.

I remember back in elementary school me and my friends'd play Sonic or Digimon and we'd each pretend we were the character. Nowadays, all you do is hang around or go to the library and stuff.

Pretend and make-believe. Back when we used to play "Zelda" on the school playground and I was the only one that could do Bombchu correctly... good times. Everyone's outgrown it though. Of course with the advent of multiplayer online games, it's almost been replaced.

In kindergarten me and my friends would always play sonic. I had to be tails though, greg was always sonic. We made the fat kid be dr. robotnik and the jungle gym was his fortress and there was supposed to be a "force field" between the metal poles so you cant go in but we'd go in anyways.

I remember when they started putting the plastic crap in our playground and taking up the valuable open space in the pebble field. Sinful. I still love the possibly-20-feet-tall slide made out of sharp steel that was untouchable near the end of the schoolyear.

Except we blended like every single Nintendo character together

Well, in kindergarten the playground was all metal and wood, so I still remember what you mean.

I've just remembered something else that reminded me of my childhood innoncence.

I used to act out a mock TV show in front of CCTV cameras in a local supermarket! Man, I really was a strange child!

I also seem to have a bit of a flair for acting, I can remember playing a cat in a play in 2nd class and helping my school win first prize ( A judge complimented me directly after we'd finished ) , something I took with pride! (Although looking at the old photos of me in full costume... I really cringe ) , only remotely major part I ever got one of those school plays ( I was the central character's Cat ) , I got stuck with minor roles in other years. >_<

Hmmm...
-NES
-Friends
-Good TV
-Disney World
-easy days at school
-Whimsy

That last one is the big kicker. We get cynical and jaded too damn quickly in today's world. We lose that sense of whimsy and wonder too quickly.

Man, I Ran around the feild at my school Playing random games till grade 8, like CTF, and Pokemon, We'd make full fledged LARPG's and make characters and take stuff from other games... man good times... good times...

My old public school still has some metal and wood, but thats what was called the "big kids Equipment" you had to be grade 4+ to go on it. But the other place got replaced...

And Damnit SWING SETS!! There pretty much all removed in my area...
