Trasher, the Moderator

I had originally created an alternate account to avoid confrontation with Trasher on my main account and kept it to PMs but ShadowMan is convinced that anonymous reporting is evil and should never occur even when the account isn't used for anything malicious.

Any of you who think the way Trasher handles things is funny, please step right back out of the topic now. A moderator is not supposed to put humor before responsibility. Satire may work for SomethingAwful, but this is not SomethingAwful. Go away. No argument on humor shall occur.


Anyway, to get to the point of this topic...

Trasher's an excellent mod. Yes. But the way he handles things are not. He definately needs to stop editing people's posts to make them look stupid and/or flame them. Sometimes he even flames them in a new post or he'll make a topic to mock them.

I'm quite sure you've noticed it. How could you not?

He is also very fond of editing topic titles when he thinks the topic is stupid or editing the content for no reason at all. He's even stickied topics just to be sarcastic about how stupid they really are.

An example of his unnecessary actions is actually quoted in someone's signature. And I found the post, haha.

Where spammy replies like this appear so often, everyone would be banned if it were against the rules. http://archive.mfgg.net/index.php?showtopic=92535 You can't see his warn log, but Trasher admits to it.

Seriously, his mod powers do not give him the right to degrade ANY member. And administrators should warn him not to do it again and keep an eye on him. I don't want to see him fired but he needs to stop. More examples:

Really, Trasher has let it go to his head. Correct the problem or don't. But it is a problem.

Agreed. No offense to him but I'm kinda getting sick and tired of him editing others posts who break rules with "OLOL I SHOULD GET BANNED" or "OLOL I'M A MORON" seriously that's NOT how a mod is supposed to act. There is a rule against flaming and to be honest, sometimes Trasher does flame when he warns and really, if you break the rules and you're a mod, something's not right.

Personally, I think that mods should not abuse their highness. Trasher has flamed a lot of people. Including me.

Yeah, just because he is a mod, that does not give him the right to flame or insult people. At least he knows when to lock topics, but when it comes to niceness, he is a sucky mod.

I actually haven't noticed any of this, but I think it should be fair that we hear Trasher's point of view

First of all, cut the guy some slack. Aside from Shadowman, I always found him to be the quickest 'on the spot' moderator. If something goes wrong, he fixes it quickly because he has a strong sense of justice. However, I think it's fair to say that Trasher isn't singling anyone of us out. He's always been like this; he does have a high responsibility. He does in some senses RUN MFGG, how it should be run, but sometimes his quick wit gets in the way.

So I'll say, Trasher: Responsibility for the forum: Yes
Responsibility for his own intended actions: not always

I don't think it's funny, in fact I think it's misguiding and confusing to the rest of the rather jokey population here as to why someone like Trasher was ever given a mod position. He can't handle most social situations that require mod attention without calling someone a woman or just losing his cool because he feels he's been challenged.

He very much embodies everything that is wrong with forum moderation, the sort of wet blanket that has to prove he has a ***** because if he doesn't, obviously people would start trodding on "his turf" (wtf?).

Instead of being a benevolent and enforcing presence, you end up feeling more like he's waiting to say some dumb **** to you because it will entertain him and yet still suffice as mod duty because he chalks up a warn on his scoring chart.

Actually, I think it's funny that some of you are "endorsing" the way Trasher handles things because some of the things he does is what you nag other forums about and organize spam parties for.
