Trasher, the Moderator

I've got nothing against Trasher, although some of the warns he gives out are a bit 'extreme'. Then again, he controlled the Chain Chompa business really well.

Trasher's a decent mod, but while I'm no saint myself in this regard, his flaming of other members, especially some of the newer ones, is a bit out of hand.

I mean, come on, when even DRACO complains about someone being harsh, you know there's a serious problem there.

That's pretty much what I planned to say. I call you guys morons pretty much on a daily basis, the only difference is that A// I'm not a mod and B// nobody notices.

And did you ever think that maybe he flames you because you have it coming...? I have a lack of patience for the terminally stupid and from what I've seen Trasher has the same deal. (If I'm wrong, I apologize in advance. I can't claim I know him that well.) Does it justify Trasher's actions? I could understand how he thinks so, sho' 'nuff.

"They deserve it" is not an excuse. In the least. I don't see a rule stating "You may flame those who deserve to be flamed" anywhere. And just who has the right to define was "deserves" to be flamed or not?

I have a very low tolerance for insolence and stupidity myself, yet I don't run around and throw out the kind of insults that would make someone literally cry at the computer.

No, but you talked about how you were spamming them. If an admin from PT came over here and saw that topic, wouldn't it look like the administration of MFGG was condoning a spam attack on their board? Bottom line is that stuff about spamming other boards should really be kept off MFGG, it can lead to many problems.

Still don't get why I was warned though. At least it wasn't as bad as the whole Rare Extreme epidemic.

it's really not a good idea, especially not if you announce that you're doing it. If I was an admin from MFGG and another board came here to spam, and I went to visit that other board and saw a topic about spamming MFGG that wasn't closed/locked or had some form of action taken, it would appear that the other board was perfectly fine with spamming MFGG.

I'm sorry, but if someone's going to actually burst into tears because somebody on a message board gave them the text-based bird, then they're in a sad-assed position. Usually when I catch flack online, I back off and, you know, go do something with my life. Cool down in front of a video game or go for a drive. Hell, this entire discussion is rife with pointless stupid. So I'm'a go get a free luncch special from Bubs' Consession Stand.

If it's a toss-up between your average MFGG forumgoer and a mod with some flex, I'd bet on the latter. Feel free to think otherwise, I have a luncch special to savor.

In all seriousness, I know what you mean about taking things too seriously, but as long as it says that no flaming is allowed in the rules and that is left unchanged, mods will just have to abide by those rules as well.

Mods can do whatever they want, basically. If what they do upsets you, then that's a personal thing. If Trasher's attitude is upsetting to you, well that's your problem. Trasher is his own person, the way he choses to act is up to him.

The bottom line is that this is NOT a democracy. There are no elected officials, this is not a place where you live. It's a message board, and you can either chose to come here, or not to come here. It's as simple as that. If someone can't abide by the rules of this Message Board, then it might not be the place for them.

Trasher can do whatever he wants, whether people like him for it is another story... I've had no issue with him myself, so it can't be that bad.

That's you though. I know what you're saying that it's sad to take a lot of this stuff seriously, but some people do. Heck, there's even been suicides through repeated flaming (Although safe to say, not on this forum), both online and offline. It's a bit extreme, I know, but everyone's different and it's good to respect people who think like this, as well as others.

Oh really? Take this from a first-person perspective: How would you feel if a person flamed you deliberately for reasons out of your knowledge and locks the topic? If it's "common sense to not do this", then the moderator post it even if it's blatantly obvious to prevent themselves from looking like an rotten ass. I'm damn sure you wouldn't feel so "pessemistic" about it if this person "higher" than you would diss you like falling bird ****.

These forums aren't a democracy, but they're still enforced. Moderators can't abuse their powers in forms that they please. Moderators must enforce by stating the enforcement, even if it's going to restated a thousand times. Being "sarcastic" about a violation and treating the person of which they're in a point of looking "satircal" is strictly abusive.
