If you're honestly having trouble beating the Marathon mode, just utilize perpetual spin/shift. As long as you're moving your block, it won't completely hit the bottom. Using that plus "T-Spin" guarantees you a chance to past LVL 20 every time.

I've made it to level twenty twice. I wasn't able to beat it though, I mess up a few times on the way and my pile of blocks is too high when I get there. And the most lines I’ve cleared is 196. You'd think that losing after getting that far would make me mad enough to break the game with a hammer but I wasn't for some reason. I'm guessing it's because level twenty's theme completely caught me by surprise even though it should have been so obvious.
