Halo or Metroid?

I liked the single player gameplay experience in Metroid Prime a thousand times more than I could ever want to like the single player in Halo 2.

Only thing that annoyed me in Metroid Prime's was the large amounts of backtracking, which actually didn't annoy me at all, this actually isn't even a real sentence.

Halo 2's Multiplayer is the most beautifully balanced FPS that I've ever played though, and I'd much rather be trapped on a desert island with Halo than online Metroid... course.. hunters just came out.... so we'll see...

I can only assume you're somewhere between 11 and 15 to ask such a question my friend. Not even Metroid Prime shares many similarities with Halo, these are very different games; and while Metroid Prime *******izes everything that is Metroid, it's still nothing like a generic FPS ala Halo.

Of course the Metroid series is better; just in terms of game design, that doesn't even require a topic to 'debate'. Especially when someone decides to compare what is ultimately Spawn #18308 of the most copied, franchise building, little-genre-that-could: the FPS.

Elaborate more on this generiness in which you speak.

He's probably taken us all for a loop. We were expecting the long post and we never got it, filling us all with an extreme emptiness.

Although the Metroid Prime games were in the first person, Retro Studios really did design them to cater more to action/adventure gamers rather than FPS gamers, as is evident from the control scheme among other things. Many FPS veterans complain how Prime is "unplayable" because you don't use the C-Stick to aim the gun and how using the shoulder buttons for aiming and target-locking is too difficult, but since I'm used to games like Megaman Legends that have nearly the same control scheme, I could jump right in and didn't notice anything awry. (The Prime Hunters demo which features more traditional FPS control, however, gave me some trouble.) Yeah.. not much to do with the current flow of this topic's discussion, but just my two cents on that matter.

Halo's more fun than the Metroid prime series as it isn't constantly set in dark areas, but 2D metroid owns the hell out of it.

Then again, I've never been to fond with FPS games on consoles anyway... It either requires loads of buttons to shoot at something, or it's got auto-targeting that makes the game to easy. FPS games with a mouse is much better.

I prefer games which focus on plot as equally as it does on gameplay. Not like Halo, where it's some halfassed story slapped onto an advanced Goldeneye style.

Yeah, the mission-based "run through the levels shooting all targets" gameplay of most FPS games never held my interest much, which is why I probably won't be getting Prime: Hunters.

It's a really boring story, but it's not half-assed when you consider the books, movie rumors, and the sizes of webpages like this: http://rampancy.net/halostory.

And really I only think it's boring because Medaforcer tried to "enthrall" me with it. In the scope of the story mode I'm sure it's probably somewhat more enjoyable.
