Or a very bad one -- this show has never been funny.

I thought it kinda lost its novelty after a while.

But hopefully he won't be angry towards the creators -- just angry towards his idiot fellow Scientologits.

Indeed. Hopefully he won't see it as "Look what you morons did to the character I play!" and more "Look what you morons made them do to the character I play!"

Just saw the scene, wtf were they thinking. It would have been funnier if they made his voice an obvious white guy or maybe have him not talk in any episode untill it gets worked out.

Seeing such a beloved character die so brutally is just wrong, even by South Park's standards. Then ruining his character is even worse.

I just hope this can go back to normal and Chef'll be back to his old womanizing self.

QUOTE (Eno the Red Guy @ Mar 23 2006, 10:24 PM)
I'll bet Matt Stone and Trey Parker are like "Aw ****, what do we do now?"

Quite frankly, even if it was because they thought the voice actor was being an asshole, killing off a long running character in such a way is just plain stupid and unacceptable. Even in a show like South Park, some characters become beloved in some way by the fans of the show, and killing such characters off for no more than an outside "argument" is pretty much a spit in the eye and a kick in the balls to the fans.

Way to go Stone and Parker. I just hope you can dig your way out of this one.

Then again, most blame goes to the people who made them think Hayes left in the first place. Either way, it seems that everyone BUT Hayes is to blame for this mockery.

I don't understand what they would be digging themselves out of. Very few fans of the show were upset.

And Chef did come back to life at the end of the episode, kinda. But I bet some people didn't actually read the gotdamn article and went straight to the video clip, so they don't know that and are acting like jackasses. 8D A-huh!

The Super Adventure Club revived Chef as Darth Chef. (You can figure the rest out from there.) This was originally interperated on South Park's wikipedia page to be an opening in case Hayes reconsiled with Stone and Parker. And also, instead of making it obvious Hayes was no longer part of the show, they took a bunch of old Chef voice clips and hacked them together. The ones on the video don't sound so bad, but there are lines, from what I've read and been told, where Chef opens up speaking angrily, switches to song mid-sentance, then reverts to a more casual tone of talking.

Is this a coincidence? Or is it all part of that elaborate April Fools joke idea?

Yeah, probably just coincidence.

The episode was made out of Chef voice clips, yeah. That's what made it so damn funny! It was a joke, they weren't trying to get away with it, the idea was that he sounded wierd because of the hypnotism from the Super Adventure Club.

I want to hurt Tom Cruise. And the stupid idiots in this religion.

Do you guys know that the founder of Scientology wasn't just a science fiction writer, but he also wrote a book on Brainwashing! And a book on making money through religion!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=dQkc2gtPyBk&sea...k%20scientology

Take a look at this clip. It's quite thoughtful, really. Just listen to Kyle's speech and think of Chef as Isaac and the Super Adventure Club as Scientology.

I doubt "Darth Chef" woud really be the same as the original one.

But hey, I don't watch South Park, so who cares? I just don't like the fact they've killed off one of the shows very few level-headed, rather rational characters and replaced them with what will probably be some dumb villain. They may be able to do some kind of double twist and have Chef come back more or less to normal, or at least I hope so.

As usual, people are completely missing my point. Chef is still part of the South Park continuity, leaving a door for Hayes to return. Whether he acts like the same character or not, whether they keep him as "Darth" Chef or return him to normal, that opportunity still exists. Christ, people, come on. XD

I really don't think that continuity is something we aught to be discussing in South Park, especially when it's a character dying. Has everybody forgotten that Kenny used to die in every single episode and return unharmed in the next one?

If Isaac truely didn't quit of his own accord, I'm not sure that he would come back, I'm sure the Scientologists would have something up their sleeves to prevent it getting out that they lied about it, but if he was to reunite with Trey and Matt, I'm sure they'd find a way, weather Chef was brought back by stem cell research, or it was made out it was a dream or a fake Chef, or even if it was just ignored and Chef just appeared randomly and they made a joke out of that, similiar to Kenny's sudden reappearance a season after his "final" death.

What I'm saing is, Trey and Matt know what they're doing. They always have and they always will. If Isaac's work for South Park, along with chef Chef, is gone forever, obviously Chef will be missed, but I'm sure they can come up with something even funnier to fill the void.

I guess we need somebody else to be the level headed, mind in the right place Character now. Though Stan has been pretty much fitting that role in most of the recent episodes.

I'm just hoping this causes the return of Mister Derp in the cafeteria XD

...Could you imagine though, the inevitable gag:

(School cafeteria)
Darth Chef: *heavy breathing* Hello there Children...
Kids: Hey Chef!

I know it's possible they'll bring him back. I'm just saying that if, for some vague, unknown reason they don't, or because Hayes is angry with their treatment of his character and he DOESN'T come back, Chef doesn't re-appear, it'll be a bad decision.

And after watching the funeral for Chef, I feel a bit weird about it. It seems strange to try and give him such a loving "send-off" right after they've killed him in such a way. If his death wasn't so needlessly graphic, the funeral wouldn't seem so out of place to me. Plus this service kinda puts a sense of finality to it, making a return seem all the stranger...

But I dunno. As I said, I don't watch South Park anymore, and from what I've seen not many people who are still fans mind about Chef being dead either way, so who cares?

Edit: And with changes of characters like Mrs Garrison etc, Darth Chef becoming a new rendition of the character (hopefully with Hayes' voice back in) probably wouldn't be out of place in the South Park universe. But that's unlikely, after all.
