my comics has 2 main characters, Jonah and his friend, and they have fire and thunder powers like mario and luigi

I've had a lot of characters that I've put out that looked like other anime characters. One of them had hair similar to Goku and another had hair similar to Yugi. Of course, I made both of these characters YEARS before Dragon Ball or Yu-Gi-Oh! became phenomenons in the U.S. but it's only recently that I've managed to drastically change the characters' designs to suit my tastes.

They're your characters, so what you want to do with them is really up to you in terms of design and backstory and whatnot, but that just goes to show that Nintendo isn't copying your ideas, but more like someone at Nintendo has an idea similar to yours.

There's a saying: Great minds think alike.

Wait... Dragonball has been in the US since early 90s. And you arent that much older than me...

edit: You probably saw glimpses of them from Japanese magazines and stored them in your subconsious(sp)

the Yugioh one was probably a coincidence, or similar to another design.

i doubt a high-profile organization like nintendo would ever want to slog through the swamps of retard that fill the backwoods corner of the internet for very obvious game ideas

And Jonah...I didnt ask what the topic was. I asked, how is it that you've NEVER HEARD OF WARIO UNTIL YOU MADE JONAH'S EVIL TWIN?
If you watch television, you should have at least SEEN him once! Sheesh!

This whole topic has no merit. Nintendo thought up these ideas before you. And also, M&L was in development since early 2002. So, unless you thought of Jonah's thunder powers in 2001 or earlier, then your wrong.

This is the main reason I develop characters and plots carefully. I proclaim my style "anime", but 90% of the characters I draw aren't in "traditional" anime style at all.

Nothing about your character is original. He's a young person, not uniqiue, with special powers, not unique, who weilds a weopon, not unique.

Unless you invented "people having special powers" or "people using weapons" and were the first to do this, than you don't have any original ideas.

That's like me chosing a random body build, colours of clothing, and some random powers, and making a backstory, and calling it original.

Your character uses lighting, "zomg you copied zeus and he predates jesus!"

Your character uses a hammer, "zomg you copied thor!"

Etc etc...

On another note, I was going to make a fan-game and had the story all planned out and ready, but to my dismay Paper Mario 2 was released and had a story so similar that I would be made a mockery of if made the game after that. It really burns my biscuits.

Sorry. You could take credit for my sprties if you want.

Dont be so upset about it.
For example, at one time my charecter was called Mario-Rip off.
But, guess what? i clamied my Originality...
My charecter Developed its own timeline, and its own personality,
At first it was just a plain design,
Now he's got 5 forms!
The same could happen to your charecter! (probably not the forms part XP)

- You were born in 1992
- Mario was created in like, 1983
- Hammer was invented in six billion-something BC
- Lightning (not to mention Roman gods who controlled lightning) has been around sense the dawn of time
- You look like freaking Robin Hood

I don't mean this in a harsh way, I'm just saying that it's stupid to complain when, obviously, there's hardly anything original in your character.

So lots of things from the Mario games are inspridered by real thing and were copied.
Koopas look like turtles, Yoshi looks like a Frog/Dinosaur hybrid, Bloopers look like squids etc. So Nintendo Never copied you at all you did.

And Speaking of Coping I once made on a Piece of Paper a Boxart of Paper Mario 2 when paper mario was out.
One of the Characters on the boxart looked alot like Goombella if I remember correctly The goomba I made had a Bow and those Red cheeks and had a large tooth on her mouth.
But Goombella was Completely Different except for the large tooth.

People have been creating characters where they control some form of nature for a while, fire, water and lightning are all common ones as they are seen almost everywhere :P
You know, like the "omg lightnings scary what if i could control it" thing

Trust me, anything someone has "created" has been done before, even if you didn't know about it, or even no one else in the world knew about it. (if the person who came up with the idea didn't share it)

All that matters is how you present the idea; what you do with it. ;P
People complain that certain games etc have a cliche'd plot, but I love them maybe even more than others because they're presented very well. (Cough Tales cough)
Symphonia has about every anime cliche you could ever think of, but it was all presented beautifully and so i luv it 2 death

You know what's odd, before MKDD came out, my sister told me how cool it would be if Rainbow Road had shooting stars. Surprise surprise :/.

Also, before MKDD came out I had a dream about a Mario Kart game were you'd be shot from a cannon to the other side of the course. DK Mountain people 0.0.
