The pic wrapped filming last fall but, thanks to the Internet turning Snakes into a cultural phenomenon long before its Aug. 18 release, the studio "decided to create new scenes that would take the movie from PG-13 into R-rated territory."

Although both the studio and almost everyone involved with the project first thought Snakes on a Plane was a "stupid title," even flirting with retitling it as the generic Pacific Air Flight 121 at one point, online buzz for the film has been steadily building without any real help from New Line. Unofficial t-shirts have been made, film clips are being leaked online, and fansites and blogs are popping up.

New Line and the industry could no longer afford to ignore the film's pre-release hype. The studio is now actively seeking out the fans, including having Jackson utter a certain profanity-laced phrase they had demanded. New Line is also collaborating with TagWorld.com for a Snakes on a Plane-themed song contest, with the winning tune to be used in the film.

This is going to be the best movie ever.
