Microsoft did this first, but big w00 anyway.

Sony's doing it too, on PS3

Next gen is gonna kick ass. This is the real revolution. Because... indie developers n shi.

We all know that Xbox 360's Marketplace lets you download new games as well as old classics. Now Nintendo and Sony are offering the same service. I think this could well be the most important part of the next gen. Games don't all have to be huge epic blockbusters... smaller, cheaper games will be feasible. Smaller developers will benefit. Maybe episodic distribution of games will take off, 2D will make a comeback, truly wacky, innovative experimental games will see the light of day. On consoles! Maybe.
