I got my connector and when I test the connection it says it can't find my IP address. It's probably a firewall or something. How do I get rid of firewalls?

Probably need to update your firmware. I had this same problem and it wasn't a firewall.

QUOTE
In computing, firmware is software that is embedded in a hardware device. It is often provided on flash ROMs or as a binary image file that can be uploaded onto existing hardware by a user.

Disable your firewall?

You're asking for a hacking when you say that. Firewalls are meant to PROTECT you.

I say not to disable the firewall, but only forward specific ports.

I highly doubt Wifi demands every single port on the system.

I highly doubt Wifi demands every single port on the system.

The Nintendo website says that the DS requires all UDP ports, but only a few TCP. I'm not able to access the site right now, but the link should still be www.nintendowifi.com. So if he's going that route, he should look at the support information there.

However, I'm not sure if firmware updates or port forwarding are relevant in this case, since the original post talks about a "connector". Can the original poster tell us if this is the offical Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector?

His Majesty is asking whether your IP is static or dynamic.

If you have a permanent connection to your Internet service, and do not have to dial up or reconnect in any manner each time you wish to access it, your IP is static.

Otherwise, you are assigned a new IP every time your network connects to the Internet, and your IP is dynamic.

EDIT: In my case, my network occasionally loses connection through an error and on reconnection assigns new IP addresses

Thus meaning you'll probably have to setup your WIFI connector each time and thus is his problem? :O

... his problem is that the computer IP (which his USB is connected to) cannot be found

You suggested that a dynamic IP would mess with that, and asked if he knew whether his IP was static

Which is why I am telling him how to check if his IP is dynamic or not and therefore answer your question

I'm pretty sure my IP is dynamic.
